So. Like. Confession time. This really sucks, but…I’m not really into Hot Chip’s new stuff. :/ This suuuuucks. Like, Flutes was kind of…meh? It sounds to me like one of their b-sides. This is the first one of their new songs that I genuinely enjoyed the first time through. “Night and Day” and “How Do You Do” have grown on me a lot watching the Jools Holland performances, but yeah. It’s not even that I disliked it, it’s just that I loved OLS and RFTF the first times through. I don’t know, I haven’t been in a very musical state of mind lately, though, so maybe by the time I listen to the full album I’ll enjoy it.
I’m pleased that Grovesnor is playing with them, though, is he like a full-time band member again? And that woman playing drums seems pretty rad. Also, I got a friggin’ ticket to see these punks in the fall! Yesss. Finally. :D
A staple of good electro-pop is that it doesn’t waste any time letting you know how good it is. Enter 2 Bears, a dancefloor duo made up of Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard and Raf Daddy of Greco-Roman Soundsystem. Today they dropped their new single ‘Work’, and from its first Hot Chip inspired keyboard riff you know you’re hooked. Just make sure to stay until the end for the awesome house fueled finale. And look for the duo’s debut album, ‘Be Strong’, due January 30th from Southern Fried Records.
hmmm liking this one
The piano riff reminds me of “Didn’t Know What Love Was”
Bit of a disclaimer, first. I love Alexis Taylor. I love nearly everything about him. I think him and that Hayden Thorpe out of them Wild Beasts are the best singers of this century. I bitterly resent the songs Joe sings on Hot Chip records, and the same applies to that other guy in Wild Beasts who sounds like the lead singer of Editors. I would follow Taylor into Hell and, as has apparently happened, into a lounge record.
So, basically, me and this guy = new BFF, except for the bitter resentment and me not knowing who the Wild Beasts are
Hey they’re gonna maybe release that “too catchy for OLS” song, sweeet :D The way Felix describes it reminds me of My Piano. Speaking of, does he say they don’t have a record label anymore (around 3:57)??? I have heard nothing of this….
Hello! I am a person who is a fan of Hot Chip. This is an outlet for my love of the music those guys make (the guys themselves are alright as well, I suppose).
